ps3 didn't start to profit sony until around april-august 2010
and as far as like november 2010 sony was only in the red(loss) with PlayStation Network. they said that they wouldn't be in the green(profit) with psn until 2011(aka until the current psn plus user's AT THAT TIME renewed their subscription's in 2011)

Please provide a link to this if possible, because I distinctly remember Sony profiting off of the slim. I think you may be confused.

What he wrote is partially true and partially wrong: according to cost estimates, like iSuppli ones, in October 2009 PS3 was still losing a few tens $ in USA, but, due to pricing, already breaking even or even profiting a few $ in EU. During Spring 2010 it should have broken even in USA, if components cost followed the usual reduction with time.
