i know people are getting sick of hearing this but it's time to get real!
THE PRICE KILLED PS3!
and that's that!
ps1 AND ps2 both launched at $299
everybody was able to get a ps1 and ps2 at that price especially the teen's who actually BUY all types of game's!
the ps3 launched at $599 IN A RECESSION so ONLY the people who had money like that could get ahold of the ps3 (and of course those people dont buy game's on a regular basis like teen's). the teen's who actually BUY game's couldn't get ahold of it that easily at that price point especially in this recession
but it does not stop there..
they had a very aggressive competitor in the generation as well that aimed to take PlayStation's market. The competitor bought out exclusive's and paid for certain game's and feature's to not be on the Playstation for a certain amount of time after it released on that specific competitor's console(6-12 month's depending on the game and feature).
but the thing that held ps3 back was that price point, ESPECIALLY IN AMERICA.
