When you really think about it, it kind of is. Basically this bit of flesh inside the vaginal canal that breaks (though not always, as Soleron indicated) when properly penetrated (though i don't know how deep in it's supposed to be...), and the breaking of the hymen is why virgins bleed a little out the vagina when they have vaginal sex the first time (if it actually broke)
