Look, if your argument is that he's been completely discredited and nobody takes him seriously, I'll just point to his huge blog visit numbers, how he's a professor at Princeton, his recent Gerald Loeb Award, etc.

But that's wayyyy off topic. I simply linked to him, since he gave a much better explanation. You can't fudge the facts and figures he posted on that blog.

On that same logic Fox News must be the best News site.  His blog is titled "The conscience of a Liberal"... I mean, he's admitting his bias before you even get to the articles.

Outside of which, what disproves his facts and figures is that well... he himself is fudging the facts and figures.

He brings in state taxes to try and make his arguement about federal taxes.  To bring up state taxes in a federal taxes arguement is disengenious since it isn't related.  Congress doesn't set local takes.

So yeah... wrong.

There is the Payroll tax, but that isn't really a tax so much as being forced into buying the governments awful healthcare and pension plans.  Outside that, it's all taxes that are given back at the end of the year.

Besides , should everybody be mad at the Obama healthcare law for being regressive?

As for why State's taxes are so regressive.  Blame federal income taxes being so high.

Or heck, look at Europe... the more widespread welfare funding becomes, the more regressive taxes get added because you can only go so far with income taxes.
