@DélioPT:

Being part of a culture does influence people but doesn`t make them what they are. They choose what they want to choose, when they want to choose.

Culture even influences what options people see worhty of being chose nor not. Haven't you seen films like Revolutionary Road? It perfectly illustrates how poeple often chose what they're told isw best for them, rather than what they personally want.

I was seeing it from the "looking back" point of view.

That's just one part of being all knowing.

Seeing it as conformity and sameness isn´t looking deep enough. Wanting to be with God is something you choose too because you see it as the best for you. Sameness? Well, if a million people see it as good why shouldn`t they go after it.
Individuality is seen not only on your decision to be with God, but how you live it with God. If you think that following a "set of rules" - which is not really the case, it`s much more than that - makes you lose your identity then you are not seeing right and also you forget that everyone follows rules, one way or another.

You're right about it being "much more than that". however that is not a good thing.

There isn`t a full "I" because you don`t live alone in this world.

If the "I" isn't full, then you have no identity.
