funny the UK is heading in the opposite direction, with power being devolved to Northern Ireland and Scottish parliaments suppose they still answer to the British government though. the technology is definitely there, people have already put microchips in there bodies, and you can pay with your phones in some mega cities but it would take something drastic like the plagues to cause us to want a single government. good few years, decades or if we are lucky centuries off I would say.
