Ummm, isn't France the 3rd biggest exporter of agricultural products in the world? And you are aware that most EU states sustaining their own food needs (or exporting foods to eachother)? Plus, considering the low birth rates in European countries, isn't it more likely that famine will affect poorer countries that will be hit be overpupulation more roughly, due to their high birth rates, and their inability to meet their food needs (such as African countries or South American countries)? |
You know, I really do wish they'd change the Forum buddy so it changes colours when I'm quoted. I used to know but they remove the older version and added the cool new buddy with less features...oh well.
Anyway, maybe France was a bad example but France is running itself into dept with it's health service, which swayed my opinion of it's status. My theory is that many of Westen countries with low population growth (I'm taking UK as my main example) import vast amounts of food from other countries. If these countries have a high population, the importance of shipping that produce abroad to rich western countries when they can keep it to feed their people instead of staving will be a new importance as in the long run it's better to keep a population to be able to produce the food to sell to the rich nations anyway.
The shortage of food exports in a major food producer because of the inability to feed their own people enough will affect western countries from buying food. I do not believe the UK in it's current state cannot sustain it's own population based on it's own food production.
I think that makes sense. I have my thinkings but it's the future it's hard to predict.
Hmm, pie.
