Just read that interview Galadi posted. this is good news because while Matsuno's writing ability excellent, the games hes made like Vagrant Story or Tactics Ogre, had extreme difficulties and balance issues. it looks like he will remediate that issue with the next project.

however the only downside to this is that the worlds of Ivalice and Xeytegina which came from his own imagination will never be completed. and worst still we may get developers who never understood those worlds to complete them resulting in very disparate and inconsisant games for those compilations.

and sadly it also means he might no longer be working with his FF Tactics team, who were together since Quest.

Your last two paragraphs are my biggest regrets right now. This is terrible news for me. I wanted Matsuno to either stay freelance or go back and join Square Enix. This news has killed off that ray of hope I had.

Also, if he's now a full-time employee of Level-5, then there's no way he will work on a Square Enix game ever again. Any future Ivalice game will not have his input which is a shocking thought to think abaout. I don't know if Square Enix plan to continue Ivalice without him but I have no idea how that will work out without Mtasuno. Is Hiroshi Minagawa a good writer?

Minagawa might be a good writer. but if he works on FF15, rest assured he will do a great job. personally i can see Sqaure hiring a professional writer like they have for FF13-2, so this might be a big concern, but at the moment i think this is a much better career move Matusno. his writing ability might be unmatched, but the games he directed suffered from balance and difficulty issues. this will give him the oppertunity to do something new and refine his ability, as was mentioned in the interview.

and the project seems to be underway very fast. unlike Square Enixs' projects.

what i can actully see happening is after this first game is finished, is that Minagawa and all of the former Quest developers will go to Level 5. that is of course if this game is a success, which i'm sure it will be. so its possible that the Ogre Battle and Ivalice series will never be finished. and simply run into the ground like the FF7 compliation.

thats Sqaure's problem man. if his game is a success, Sqaure might ask him to do some work for Ogre Battle or Ivalice, but the people left at Square could probaily do that anyway tbh.
