I agree, the FF of the 6th and 7th gen is simply a shadow of what the series used to be in the 4th and to a lesser degree 5th gen.
In this gen, FF has been easily surpassed this gen by other RPGs such as DQIX, TWEWY, Pokemon Black/White and even it's sub-series FFTA2. If you want fantasic RPGs, they are the games to play IMO.
