Well I've been heavily medicated since I was a kid. When I was young I had ADHD apparently so I was on Ridalin. Anything went wrong and here's another pill. I finally got off pills for a few years but then stopped being able to sleep naturally. So 15 pill tryouts later I found a drug that puts me to sleep, but its an anti-psychodic and it makes meel feel Meh about everything I can't get overly happy or depressed and I have no modivation to do anything.
I tried getting off the pills immediatly I felt 100x better, but couldn't sleep and within a week was haluscinating and blacking out. So back on the dang pill. Tried reducing dosage but that meant less to no sleep.
I hate being on drugs, I also caught MRSA a infection that is resistant to anti-biotics. Was in the hospital 2 hours twice a day for like 3 months for IV anti-Biotics.
I just got a cold that lasted over a month. I went into the doctor and he perscribed 5 pills. I went home and took them a day before deciding "No more freaking pills" so I stopped taking them.
It sucks but pills are forced down our throats! And in some cases like my Insomnia they are nescessary but they always have side effects. Always something negative, they say their is nothing free in life, well their is no such thing as a cure without paying something else for it!

5 pills for a cold?! Wtf?! Did he at least tell you what each of them was for?
And I think people need to do their own research rather than just accepting their Doctors recommendations. It's not the medicine that's the problem in a lot of cases, but the people prescribing them. I especially hate the idea of giving kids drugs like Ridalin. There are just too many unknowns in a developing mind and body. I feel sorry for you having had so many pills forced down you at such a young age, it just sounds like overkill.

He gave me Advil Cold and Sinus something, Tylenol 3's, A cough syrup (perscription), two anti-biotics. He said all the medication was nescessary as he thought I had a very bad virus. I was like why do i have so much, he was like
-The Tylenol 3's have something in them that helps stop you from caughing
-The advil will clear your sinuses and help with the coughing
-The cough syrup will also help with both the coughing, sore throat and sinuses
Then he said he thought the virus was mutating into an infect but he didn't know what kind of infection so he gave me two different anti-biotics to kill any infection.
I took them all for like a day or two before stopping. I was like "hell no" I'm not taking five different drugs for a cold. Granted I still have the cold and its been over a month since I got it. But I'd rather have a slight cold (It feels alot better now then it used too) then take five freaking drugs.

That's rather a lot, lol. At least your doctor's thorough! But yeah, I guess it depends on how bad your cough is as to which medicine(s) your decide to take (talking about the first 3- 3 meds that basically have the same effect). Also not sure why he's given you two sets of anti-biotics for what is most likely a virus. He's probably worried about secondary infections during your weakened state. My doctors usually do the same (although only 1 antibiotic usually), although most of the time I think it's just paranoia. I guess they're probably liable if it does turn into something more serious.

Yah thorough but do I really need/want to ingest five different drugs for like a month? I went to my home doctor for a second opinion and he told me I did the right thing by stopping them. He was like "The more drugs you take the less effective they will be in the future" before perscribing me with a puffer to help with the cold.
He also said that quiting the anti-biotics is only bad if you have an infection, it could lead to the infection becoming immune. However he said I had no infections and didn't need the anti-biotics.
To be honest I haven't used the puffer yet either. The virus isn't as bad as it was alittle while ago and I doubt the puffer is going to completely cure it. I may's well just let the virus run its course.
