Have you actually held a Macbook Pro in your hand? Most other laptops simply don't compare. It's extremely thin (about half the thickness of most laptops) it's sturdy and made out of aluminum. The current Macbook Pro has kept its look for 3 years now and the reason why some laptops look almost identical is because most manufacturers got a notebook line that copies the look of a Macbook Pro. You can't see a big difference on pictures but when you actually use one you feel it is an extremely high quality product.
@OP: When you want lots of power you shouldn't go for a Macbook Pro. It's more like an allrounder, pretty good at everything. It's got decent specs but you pay mostly for the design, the long battery life (which is actually 7 hours - it's not just marketing), backlit keyboard, aluminum and all those bells and whistles they put in.
I say this in every Macbook Pro thread I post in: When I bought mine everyone made fun of me. And now they all want one as well.
