If I really want the game then yes I'll buy it regardless of the achievement list anyway (see Portal 2). If it's a game I know I'm going to love then a hard or time consuming achievement list is ideal. If I'm not really fussed on the game then a crap achievement list would completely rule that game out for me though.

I can see what you mean here. There are some games I like that have very difficult achievements, but very few. To me a very difficult achievement list hinders the game's enjoyability to me. But what annoys me most is when games have either most or half multiplayer achievements! Multiplayer achievements can get very annoying.
