Tragic, but smart. The problem is if the state calls his bluff and drops the charges against him now that everyone knows what he's doing
He should have just tried for a more reasonable amount and kept his mouth shut
Edit: though i suppose now that everyone knows, perhap's he'll get the help he needs from charity or something even if the State outsmarts him, as this could prove a humanitarian crisis of sorts.
