Then that wouldn't be a hot dog, now would it? That's why people are fast to disclaim Chicago hot dogs because kielbasa and bratwurst are not officially "hot dogs."

That's like people saying a turkey burger is a hamburger.

a hot dog is a sausage in a roll, it is not sausage-type specific. a turkey burger may not be a hamburger, but it is still a burger. [and as someone else pointed out, what most call hamburgers are in fact beefburgers]
