While I would prefer Nintendo to use a variant of the chip found in the 58xx series (DX11, better tessellation, more power efficient, etc.) the RV770 is a very capable chip, more than enough to render games at 1080p.
And remember that Nintendo will use a modified chip, so the result chip may combine the basics of the R770 with some of the improvements of the RV800. Plus it will probably be manufactured using 40 nm so the chip will run way more cooler than the RV770s.
