No Nintendo is still trying to appeal to casuals. Seriously Wii 'U'...that's it?! Sounds gimmicky. No new controllers beside the main one, will be using Wii remotes still. are they so lazy to not create new ones?! I see this as failing hard as the GameCube for various reasons.

Its not about laziness and more of why do it if we are only going to pack in the same functionality in the new extra controllers besides the Wii U controller. Why make people buy new ones when they can still use the old Wiimotes? Do you want to buy new controls that do the same thing only to have a new controller that looks slightly different? Isn’t the Wii U controller enough?

OT: Nintendo will always be in this situation and at the same time lead the industry. People were always hitting on the Wii mote but then when their favourite company copied Nintendo they were all over it. Pathetic!

In that case we should be using Gamecube controllers forever, I mean why should Nintendo redesign new ones when we can simply reuse them FOREVER. Well I am saying this really for the market, Wii U is so similiar to the Wii in look that the casual market won't tell a difference besides controller. These are people who don't look at specs, the U doesn't really help say it's a new sytem. Why spend 400 dollars for a tablet like controller? Exactly.

The only reason a controller will get a redesign is when the former is not good enough or does what it is supposed to do. The Wii controller was designed too look like a TV remote to not scare some people away and instead encourage them to use it.

As for Wii U being to similar well it never stopped the PS with adding just a 2 or 3 at the end of the name and not change the controller at all :P

Actually it is not similar at all as it does in fact have a new controller but it allows you to use the old Wii controllers to play on it just like how you could play GC games on your Wii and no one ever complained about that.

Now I agree that it can be confusing as I was when I saw the controller I though it was just an add on to the Wii lol.

Anyway it is all up to the marketing strategy Nintendo will use too make it clear that this is the successor to the Wii
