Eh, not as much as you'd think.

It started up libretarian, but began to pick up heavy "normal" conservative followers.

What screwed it from becoming a fully libretarian movement was the smear campaign painting the Tea Party as racists.

In general that kept away fiscally conservative democrats stopping a good balance from occuring.

This will be seen in the coming elections.

Early on... many democrats received tea party endorsements.  I'm not sure the same will happen this time around.

Still... i'd take the Tea Party over the Neocon GOP anyday.  Fiscally Liberal and Socially Conservative is just the worst combination there is.

Isn't the Tea Party like that now?

No.  The Tea Parties main issue is that government intervention is fucking over the econonomy.  They'll probably pick up steam with the double dip economy looming and even corporate america not doing so well... all basically because of the new government banking regulations and same old Keynsian moves that never work.

The problem, as always is that government spending... (and this includes tax cuts which is the issue with the tea party) can not create sustainable demand growth.
