Why do People prefer to shoot People?

See I'm on the other end of the stick, I RARELY enjoy shooting humans. Humans are boring and lack variety, I can only really get into Sci-Fi shooters :/ COD4 was a "great game" to many, but I just found it drab and boring :(, if a game has vehicular combat then I can play that just fine, because it's more than just humans that you fight. But I find down to earth weapons boring and lame, I find any "realistic" combat game annoying and pointless, and I need flashy!!! Man I miss warhawks ;-;
