I dont know, i think it all depends on the inital sales of the Wii U.

lets say the Wii U launches and the PS3 and the 360 outsell it week on week by a significant margin. are Sony and Microsoft really going to rush in a release new consoles more expensive than the Wii U, when those consoles have a likelyhood of falling below the Wii U.

it all depends on the reception of the Wii U imo, if Sony and Microsoft can hold of the Wii U with the 360 and PS3 i think they will. i doubt they want a situation where both companies make losses on their hardware at the expense of competing with cheaper to produce hardware.
