Sounds like a good reason to stick with Win 7 for years ;)

This is going to be as succesfull as Vista and paid for GfWL

If PC gamers don't have to pay for it then I don't see why it wouldn't be a success.

On the contraire, the issue with GFWL is that it has and continue to be an obstacle in enjoying gaming because of poor interface, lack of intuitive functions and limitation that outweight advantages.

All that Microsoft is doing is rebranding their GfWL badge to the more popular Xbox-Live one. There is no reason why they couldn't just implimentg all these feature they are now tauting for GfWL instead, since it is essentially an inferior Xbox-live for pc (re it lacks feature).

It is in fact a smart move on Microsoft's part, but wether it is successful or not depends on what it can deliver features above and beyond what current service provider has to offer. PC gamers are generally a lot more demanding than their console cousins and Xbox-Live (like GfWL) would have to go up against the 800 pound gorilla that is Steam to gain any market share.

Yeah I know thats the issue but if they make xbox live for the PC it will most likely be quite different.

I'm not arguing about the feature set, I'm arguing that just because it's free doesn't mean it will be successful. It will have to be free and have something that is either better or at least equal to the competition or have something unique. The competition being Valve's Steam and other less establish platform such as GOG, D2D, Impulse and even publisher specific stuff like EA's Origin.

I am sure that MS can create a unique exprience with their rebranded XboxLive for PC; I just doubt this unique exprience will be as free as they claim. The service itself might be 'free' but I forsee that any value added services that you usually expirience on a Gold membership on the360 (other than online play) will cost extra.

If that is the case, then Xbox-Live for window is by no mean a gaurantee success.
