2. Sega used to actually be a real player (look at 1996).

2. No, only with Saturn they captured a significative share of japanese market. Sega Saturn was a console for otaku/hardcore gamers . That force was declinig during 32 bit era.

3. Software sales exploded, reverting a declining trend in japanese market, thanks to Nintendo's Blue Ocean ( DS Lite came out in march 2007, that was the final explosion of DS phenomenon ).
