Conservatives in the West generally oppose anything that may be seen as "Socialism", and social programs fit in this category. |
Your right socialism (Communism pretty much) is totally against Conservatives in North America and probably globally. But define socialism the US Republicans claimed that Canadian Medicare is Socialism. However Canadian Conservatives were quick to say it wasn't. Conservatives in Canada do one thing really good, they conserve.
Socialism is in the eye of the beholder. The US Republican Party had members in favour of the Government bail outs. That was considered socialism by many other conservative groups.
I think its hard to stereotype all Conservatives. Just like many people assume all Conservatives are Christian's. Having been a member of the Canadian Conservative Party I have met Sikh's , buddhists, muslim's and agnostics all of whom are Conservatives.
Now as for Liberal's being richer, lol the Conservative Government's do more for big buisness then Liberals ever have. All those wealthy oil billionaires all the million dollar film stars Conservatives helped them get rich. At least if your talking Canada, Conservatives dump millions to billions into the oil industry, lumber industry , film industry , game industry. You name it the Conservative Party helped make them rich.
I don't think their is any excuse for someone non-Conservative or non-religious not to either serve on a humanitarian team or donate to a charity.
I live on less then 12k a year. I live hand to mouth and very modest in a peice of shit appartment. Yet I found a way to go on a humanitarian mission. Now granted I got fired a little while ago so I didn't have to take off work. But even I with such little income and in the position I am in, still was able to contribute by going on a trip. I also donate 10% of my little income. So I don't see all that much of an excuse for anyone. I make about 700$ a month before rent and bills. Yet I could go on a trip, its all about your priorities.
Now I understand its very difficult for some to say , you know what I barely make anything but I will donate 10%. Its also very hard for someone who makes very little to say, you know what I will save a chunk of money each cheque to go on a humanitarian mission. Some of my family members were upset with me for spending my money to go on a humanitarian mission, they said I should have saved for a vacation or a car or something for myself.
Fact is anyone and everyone can do something to help someone in need, it doesn't matter how poor you are. At least not in North America or most of Europe. If you make more then a dollar a day, then your better off then like half the world. Everyone can help somehow!
