I'm guessing they didn't realize the amount of resources one of the controllers required from the system when they initially decided to add a screen on the controller. It would've been really cool to have two player Pokemon duels if you could use the controller screen to call out monsters and stuff. And what happens if the controller breaks? Selling it only bundled with a system sounds like a dumb idea. I'm still determined to get a Nintendo console though, so I guess I'll just settle for the 3DS.
