I could see how a controller would be used to walk around the world and intaract with people and such but spell casting (which I thought was very cool having these hand movements to cast the spell) could use kinect along with driving the horse and many other stuff like that.
Like you said though why not show that at the show unless ms wanted to show just the kinect parts.
