I am astonished at the degree opinions seem to miss things regarding E3, or at least how much they seem to end up flipflopping over time.  I am thinking of a number of examples here:

* Nintendo announces the Wii, and shows the remote, and everyone goes WTF? and laughs it off.  It is panned as beyond stupid, it looks like a TV remote and so on.  Then, Microsoft and Nintendo get into motion control and everyone goes nuts over it.

Its funny, I vividly remember the e3 the Wii Mote was first showed off and I was under the impression that it was hailed as tremendously innovative and full of potential. I even tried getting some of my friends to buy Nintendo stock. Oh if only we did...

Well, if you look at sales prediction after sales prediction, the idea was that the Wii would be marginal at best, and the PS3 would dominate.  People didn't believe the controller for the Wii would make a difference.  I thought, due to price point, that Nintendo had a serious shot of doing things and what they were doing looked like fun.  I would say that you should count yourself in the minority here, and maybe give yourself a gold star or something.  My reaction to the U is more stunned and perplexed than the Wii though, but I think I get it.
