The price point is surprisingly impressive, but I'd imagine it comes down to software. As much as some might love Sony first party, it's as good as irrelevant compared to Nintendo's. Even third parties don't compare so I'd think that Nintendo really needs to do little more than launch Pokemon, Mario Kart and 2D Mario, all of which are practically inevitable, to win this.
I still see 3DS beating Vita by more than DS did PSP, but I've been wrong before, :O.
