Huh??  Microsoft already outsold sony over Christmas and the first 3 months of the year.  XBOX is increasing its lead worldwide as we speak.

KINECT > than sony's exclusives. 

Nintendo has shown this generation that casual gamers are the key to HUGE SALES!!!

Kinect is so big it has its own gravitational pull, and all the casuals will be sucked it....mark my words.

Um where are you getting your info? PS3 has sold more this year and is selling more every week despite kinect and even in the quater wehere kinect sold 10 mil 360 only tied ps3 in consoles sold, Kinect has helped 360 stay afloat but it's not gonna last much longer mark MY words

I am using shipment numbers.  I believe vgchartz is undertacking xbox 360.  My opinion

I think the FREE xbox with PC promo is hard to track and will result in  BIG SALES!!

The situation is very simple. Sony shipped too much in the holiday season and MS had shortages, that's why MS managed to ship more in Q1 2011 than Sony, although the PS3 is still outselling it. That's (IMO) the most likely explanation.

Anyway, thinking about it again, the 360 could be first this year if its' lead is big enough in Americas. The 360 is lost in Japan, and it doesn't have a chance against the PS3 in continental Europe (the markets where only the PS3 is available do NOT matter here as they are mostly in MiddleEast/Africa/Asia). Its' only chances are America and UK, and considering that the USA is the biggest single market in the world it's a very good chance.

But we'll see. For now, I think it will be close between the PS3 and 360.
