Sugar pills are placebo's. In other words, it's not the actual sugar that is supposed to make a change - but the mentality of the patients. They take the pill and believe they will get better, and so they might actually get better.
Placebo's have worked with many conditions. Don't think they would in this case though.
Aversion therapy can cure homosexuality.
