Hilarious... comparing it to 32X. According to some recent articles about Kinect sales, they've sold over 10 million units software (excluding Kinect Adventures). Ofcourse people will add more Kinect games to their collection as software prices drop. We can also expect a big software sales boost during the holidays. Speaking of decline, the Wii has take a huge one. YoY the Wii has plummeted. If you wanna piss and moan about sales decline that's worth your attention. |
Comparing kinect to the 32x is not the worst idea as both was intended to sell systems here is what I mean
"When the 32X was released in November 1994, the demand was so high that Segacouldn't fulfill all of the one million orders retailers had made for the system. By January 1995, Sega had shipped 600,000 units. " Link
The 32x was sold out back in its first holiday seaon just like kinect .Fast-forward a year and this was its fate
"In early 1996 Sega, acknowledged it had promised more than it could deliver for the 32X.Sega would be dropping it from production to focus their efforts on the Saturn system. Prices were slashed for the 32X and the remaining units eventually sold for $19.99." -Link is the same as before
Eventually the system stopped selling and sega was unable to stop it due to software issues and next generation coming. So unless kinect gets some system sellers don't expect it to get far. The only difference between the 32x and kinect is how much they sold but they have smilier trends however.
Kinect's software ratio is still small and is only just over 1.00 ratio. Its poor compared to consoles but excellent compared to something like the balance board. So whether its selling lots is however you like to compare to. Also kinect getting big titles for this holiday season? Sure since its best to leave this part alone I believe their won't be but if I'm wrong then I'll happily eat my words.
