Origin is probably EA's big step to their own dowload service where they will exclusively sell their games one day. I don't think EA really cares about their old games anymore and that's probably why they gave them to GOG instead of re-releasing them on Origin.

BTW: Isn't it ironic that EA sell their new games on a service called Origin and their acquired Origin (Systems) games on GOG? I wonder what Richard & Robert Garriott will think about the naming of EA's new service...


I think it's just EA's way of recognizing that their online store sucks and needs a revamp. I don't think they care about trying to make a competing platform to GOG or Steam because Origin is just their new, hopefully less crappy, online store.

But they already said that they will launch content for their games only available through Origin, making it compete with GOG and Steam.
