What would I need? Your open and honest review after playing the game in some form. After that I would be able to be convinced it is a blockbuster title. Yes, I know this is an impossible task right now, but that is my point. We do not know what the gameplay will be like, so we have to guess based on past experiences.

I also largely disagree with your scale, but that is a matter of personal preference. I figure any game that can't crack 80% average is a mediocre game at best. KZ: Liberations does come very close, but it still falls short.

But as promised I will answer your questions. The first answer is that I cannot convince you that the game is bad. I was never trying to really. I was trying to point out how extremely unlikely it is for the game to be a blockbuster title on the scale of MGS4 like it is being promoted by fanboys. I am super stoked for Culdcept Saga for example. I am consiering buying a 360 just for it. This is how deep my love runs for a video game series you have probably never even heard of, Peronsal preference is never something you can argue against.

As for what it would take for me personally to be hyped, well that is hard to say, It takes a lot to get me behind a FPS, but I have tried not to let that get in the way of my overall point here. It would take quircky and unique gameplay elements with a decent story and near perfect control and balance. To highlight how rare that is allow me to list the FPS games I feel are excellent and worth my time to play. Team Fortress 2, Golden-eye 007, and Perfect Dark.If we extend it to purely single player experiences we add Portal and Metroid Prime (only the first one). Again I must stress though that I am not trying to argue that the game will suck. It just won't be at the same level as all the hype wants it to be at.
