Anyway, PS3 did 7,5 mln. in 2007 alone. With total 9 mln. by the end of 2007.
So in worst case, it should be near x360, or just 15 mln. by the end of 2008.
BUT, why there should even exist worst case for ps3? For what reason? x360/wii will take ps3 sales in 2008? Yeah.. =)) Blu-ray lost HD war? hehe.. The winning won`t move hardware.. yeah! =)))
Ok, now, average sales, or just 10-11 mln. in 2008 with 19-20 mln. total. And you will end on the maximum of the graphic. That is not very far from SDF predictions. =))
With optimistic(yeah, optimistic, i hope you know that word? so, if you optimistic about ps3 sales = sony fanboy? LOL) sales you will get 14-15 mln. or just right there, where SDF predicted.
Now overall, with my 2007 predcitions.
For japan - realistic.
For usa - realistic.
For europe - optimistic.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.
1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.
PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far
