No matter how you cut it, a war-zone is a war-zone, and the more soldiers there are the less likely a small group of fighters can get through defensive lines. (The "Surge")
The politicians expected the Iraqi citizens to help the United States and other forces in establishing a western government... but the citizens failed in that aspect. Such as looting their own city after the initial fall of hussein(Typo?).
(Realizes that this thread will most likely get in some political flaming. Jumps out with parachute. ON YOUR OWN!)
