People seem to get deaf? Who are you trying to kid? Iwata's speeches explaining his stance on smartphone games caused such an immense uproar on the internet that it's unbelievable.

And people are criticizing Sony here because they used the exact same comments last generation and it shows that getting cocky is something they can't seem to get over, which is something of a major problem since it caused their crash this generation.

Nintendo actually deserves less hate for something like this because it's the first time in recent history that they were even remotely offensive. They've actually said plenty of good stuff about their competitors here and there.

Marketing doesn't have to involve trash-talking competitors, you know.

how was what was said trash talk?

the sony rep said that ( in simple terms ) the ngp is better did you expect him to say otherwise?

regardless of what you believe it is a common practice for companies to downplay their opponents' offerings and hype their own ( how else would they raise awareness for their product and gain interest? )... the same happens for example in political campaigns

He also said that the 3DS is an updated DS, remember? That is trash talk, or light trash talk, at least.

And, while I am well aware that it's common practice in business, with all of us being normal human consumers, I think it's quite reasonable for us to look down upon arrogance and downplaying the competition, if only because the consensus is that it's stupid and leads Sony nowhere.

i do... and thats what you call downplaying the opponent

and all the stuff he said about no competitors and the things added are hyping the product he represents

and all of that is simply marketing

why are you so offended anyway? if you don't agree with what was said then just disregard it like for example  if i said pigs fly you would disregard that

btw its hardly a stupid tactic
