To all of the above, you said "smart business decision"I was respnind as if i was sony and what would have been smart for them, so yes it would of come of as how they run their business and would it amke money, that is genraly thought of as smart business decisions.
You don't open your product up to piracy willingly (Without a fight) unless it becomes a pointless effort that is losing you money.
In my opinion, it saved them tons of money because now there is some fear in owners messing with their PS3.
We will proably agree in those since they dont involve sony. Bu for thread its about sony, so please stick to the topic.
I have no 'Love' for Sony. I do prefer the PS3 to Wii / 360 that's a matter of game preference however. I'm not even entirely against piracy for that matter.
I just find it funny. I feel I am pretty realistic about it. If you or I or anyone else owned a business and someone was easily taking your product and obtaining it for free you the business owner would not like that.
I feel Sony (Or any other company) has every right to try and protect their goods and services using the legal system. I can understand operating a business (Which is your and every employees living.)
I don't have a problem with Geohot doing what he did, but it can be legally punishable (And trying to defend him as some White Knight is just hilarious to me.) when he clearly could be found guilty.
The guy was trying to crack the PS3 to do a whole host of things to it, one of those things being playing software illegally. He maybe never admitted it but we all know deep down that was one of the several reasons for doing it.
I love when these threads come up because the typical Sony haters come out in full force (Just like when the negative MS threads come out). It's just funny. Stop trying to manipulate your dislike for Sony into a tangible point.
