Add another cell = add 60-80 Watt power usage Add more ram = add 10-20 Watt power usage Add better GPU = add 20-60 Watt power usage End result: PS4 meltdown Look people, consoles are limited by three constraints: size, price, power usage (which is limited by the first two factors). Otherwise they would be called gaming PCs. Any new console will never achieve the performance of a (good) gaming PC. Sure everyone can dream up a PS4 with a multicore-32SPU cell - not going to happen. |
PS3 Slim already use only 100 watt running a game... this new CPU is 32nm instead of 45nm of the PS3 slin CPU... GPUs are now around 40nm instead of the 65nm in PS3 slim... this and they might use less Mhz now to produce less heat and consume less energy. Ram are also much faster and power friendly... i could see all the specs i told using less than 180W, less than PS3 FAT...
