Wait....

Why would the Vatican help SS men flee? Tha Nazis tried to suppress religion and fell out with the RC Church big time. And if the church was frightened of Stalin, then how would sending SS men to South America and Spain help?

The relations between the RCC and the Nazis wasn't as bad as you may think. The RCC hated Communists much more than it did Nazis. Not to mention that the RCC is responsable for most of the anti-Jewish sentiment present in Western Europe (it's based on religious arguments for most people). The Holocaust is something the RCC would've loved to do itself when it had actual political power.

Yes it was.  Back in it's power Hitler basically said "shut up about everythign we do or we will flatten the vatican."  I mean, it might be worth noting that the Vatican was right in the freaking middle of axis territory for nearly the majority of the war.... and the people in there could of been taken out and shot on any given day.  The fact they remained as nuetral as they did was a wonder.

Heck protests and the like probably would of just got german catholics on the chopping block before their time.

An no... the holocaust is not something the RCC would do.  That's just.... unbelievably ignorant.

Your letting your extreme bias against religion show... and it makes you look sad.

The Catholic Church at the time still assigned the crime of Deicide to the entire jewish people dead, living, and yet to be born.  You have no idea how much the Catholic church does not like jews.  Catholics are not Zionists, they're not christians who are friendly with jews, they're the exact opposite.  They see jews as being a race of sinners who only corrupt others.  I was raised in a heavily Catholic family, I have been to Catholic churches all throughout Italy and many in America.  Saying that the Catholic church would not exterminate the jewish population of the world if it could is unbelievably naive.
