Maybe in Germany, but in Italy for example there was quite an uproar in the Catholic church when Mussolini began to adopt anti-Semitism.
I'm not sure I believe this that much though. How could a few SS men (who didn't believe in the values of religion) possibly stop the Soviets by fleeing?
Anyway, there's no doubt a lot that went on back then that we don't know about. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the RC Church was indeed as twisted as you make out.
