Well, I've been playing video games since the early 80's. Whil I honed my skills in games like Super Mario and Gradius, I welcomed games with cinematics (Ninja Gaiden, Astyanax). Well, the early 80's was a long time ago. While I can still hang with the youngsters in games like Street Fighter, and such, I find myself having a harder and harder time surviving in games like Call of Duty (I got a message from a little kid about a week ago that said "U R Lame and Gay") or Splosion Man.
I'm getting old. This morning, I played L.A. Noire. I really enjoyed the couple of cases I solved. Video games are my first true love and I want to play them forever. Games like Heavy Rain, Sam and Max, L.A. Noire, and several others just show me that there will be games that can suck me in and give me joy no matter how old I am or how good my skill level is. Plus, I work a lot. It's good to have a game that I can play while laying under a blanket on Sunday morning without worrying about dying every ten seconds. Just like there's a place for the "Hardcore games" (which I still enjoy), there's a place for dancing games, puzzle games, party games, and THANK GOD, there's a place for cinematic games.
