tbh I was thinking along the lines of releases for home consoles, and I haven't played a contra game in a looong time :S how was Hard Corps?

tho using the term only was a bit harsh, you get my point tho. He is the most exciting dev they have, and nothing, at least for me. tops MGS or ZOE. Heck I only played a bit of the new Castlevania and thought it was very good (didn't like the combat all too much tho)

Haven't played that one. I was thinking of ReBirth and Contra 4.

But yeah, I get what you're saying. They're lacking this gen compared to the past.

But back during the MSX and NES days, as well as the PS1 era? They were probably amongst the best, if not THE best. I could list many Konami games that were great which weren't by Kojima (note: this is just a rambling, not a way of disagreeing with you or anything).
