No it happens by massive advertisement and incredible simplicity. Also the entire industry agreeing is, if anything, a knock against these games as the inustry has horrible taste in games.

LBP- Nice creative tools destroyed by unplayable platform physics. I like the floaty physics, it takes time to get used to, but its really great, and 4 player co-op!

Gears of War- Pop and shoot repetitive gameplay with a broken multiplayer. I admit its a simple formula for the campaign, but its great to play in co-op and an amazing game to play in Horde mode, I admit, the multiplayer is broken, which is why I didn't play it :P

Assassins Creed- Repetitive missions and boring combat. Not top five material at all. I only played the first Assassins Creed, but I completed the entire game and EVERY mission and all the side ones too, I got bored at the end, and the combat ain't great, but its still a great game, exporing, fleeing and assassinating are brilliant in this game, and the sequel is supposed to be better in every way!

Mass Effect- Solid first game but with a sequel that strips out any semblance of RPG from it and gives us more pop and shoot gameplay with a meaningless plot. The combat isn't like an RPG in MA2, but the story, in MA1 and 2, is outstanding, same for the universe and the characters who end in your squad too, you can really get to know there back story if you try

Uncharted- Good game. Pop and Shoot gameplay is broken up with fun platforming and excellent writing. However its very linear and without much replayability. Not top five quality. I think it would be quiet challenging to make a Uncharted like game without making it linear, and for the replayability, the story is great, is that not a reason? there are also collectables to find in the campaign and a few people enjoy its multiplayer

I'm going to disagree with you so much here

but back to the results, I think all the top 5 are certainly good enough to make the list, I would of prefer Bioshock or Dead Space to Assassins Creed, and I think Mass Effect is greater than Uncharted, but otherwise its great
