dude again what you are describing IS linear gameplay, not on rails. go and check star wars kinect or deadspace extraction if you want an example of what on-rails is.
It's true many games are following the cinematic route, and I for one love it, as long as it's done right. a game DOES follow a script, this is not an RPG or something or HR type of game with multiple endings. it's a FPS.
anywho sounds like this is not the type of game you would like, avoid all R3, UC3, COD MW3, Gears 3 threads. if you want to discuss what on rails is vs linear, go ahead and make a thread on it
