I didn't think it was funny, and I sure as hell didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Just a man with a language barrier labeled an idiot because English isn't his first language.

That's totally not the point. It's just a very charmingly awkward and human moment, and I don't think anyone thinks he's an idiot because of it. Anyway, if he's not fluent he's damn near it (judging from Twitter), and I think the awkwardness was more down to his being enthused about a B-level game and trying to hype it to a crowd of jaded journalists in the middle of the strangest press conference in human history.

I was just embarrased for him because the applause and enthusiasm he was expecting just wasn't coming.  Definitely not one of E3's finest moments IMHO.  I mean, I love Miyamoto, but the debut of Wii Music deserves all of the criticism it received as well.  Same with Yamauchi and the '06 showing of GT5 (crickets everywhere).  Anyway...
