If there are different ways to progress through the game instead of mostly scripted events, then that's already a good start. If you are somewhat clever, then you already know that the things mentioned above are the same ones that apply to multiplayer. Those are the reasons why people play and keep playing multiplayer after all. The main reason why singleplayer games fail is that they are too much focused on telling a story which in return means that the game being a game receives less attention. So once the story is done, there is no reason to go back. |
