If tivoHD isn't available in the UK, there might be a niche for this product.
In the U.S. the DVR service/recorder market is going to get a little bit cramped in 2008. It seemed to be one of the highlights at CES.
I'll be surprised if Sony brings this to the States and even more surprised if it is successful.
On the other hand, if you already have a PS3, then it's an issue of how well this thing works to justify the extra expense. I'd consider buying one, but not if it were just for recording network TV.
