i disagree with anyone who says the game is "difficult".  it's not.  the game is unforgiving of mistakes, this is true, but the not hard.  you have to learn the enemy types, how to exploit them, and then execute with precision.

So your definition of  a ''difficult'' game is a game that you fail it when it's not your fault.(?)

Because if your quote above isn't a definition of difficulty then what on earth is!?

the 3-2 boss is blind.  if you go in geared up and try  to attack him aggresively you will die.  if you take off your gear so he can't hear you and range attack when his back it turned it is almost impossible to lose that fight.

the 5-1 boss has a regen and does a posion damage.  if you attack him by almost any method you will die.  when you learn he is extreemly weak to fire you can 1-shot him (with the right gear)

black knights will stun lock you to death until you learn to make use of evade to make them stumble.

the entire game is dangerous but it is scripted.  demon souls is really a puzzle game.  learn how to properly attack and it is really really REALLY easy to win.  when you approach the puzzle wrong you stand little chance of coming out alive.

difficult games (imo) are the ones that even when you know the best strategy it is hard to execute.  god of war or devil may cry for instance.

Ok, I get your point. However, this aspect of the difficulty curve I really admired about Demon's Souls. It's just a lot more immersing for me if you really don't know what you're going to get around the next corner, and that sometimes progress isn't entirely up to your skill.

This random nature of the game makes for a more immersive and believable world imo. Throw into the mix that there are also some GENUINLY difficult moments where progress is being slowed (similar to GoW and DmC) and how easily you die then I would have to say its a hard game.

But I get your point.

I started playing GoW III again, and its floored me just like a year ago. It's amazing how challenging some of those set-pieces might be in chaos mode. I was already trying to conquer those revolving platforms that the bulls try to break the chains (you know what I'm talking about) for about an hour when I realized I can just summone a beast to knock them off. So even in GoW III those elements of finding a really easy solution exist. But your right, not to the extent of DS.
