I agree. Build inward and you could one day get what you want, and if not, you have a good friend in the process, which is just as valuable (and a good chick friend who could potentially set you up with other chicks :P)

Yeah, more or less why.  I mean if after a whiel your never going to see her again or something, yeah whatever go for it, but why ruin a friendship now when we're well past an age where guys have to be expected to always make the first move.
