| Shinobi-san said: I dont think they paid for any of it...in the true sense of paying if u know what i mean. I see it more as strategic partnerships and maybe with a few perks here and there for both parties. Kratos in mortal kombat is just a win win situation for both Sony and MK publisher. Kratos has a huge fanbase, more so than MK if u look at it sales wise, so kratos definately sold a few copies. And Sony in turn gets some exclusive content. Midway (not sure if they are the devs for MK??) said they wanted an exclusive character for xbox as well but im not sure what happed there? maybe MS wanted them to pay to use one of their characters...and maybe Sony gave Kratos for free in turn for an exclusive demo? u never know. L.A Noire i think this is kinda obvious. Sony was the publisher for L.A noire for about a year i think? not sure. And the main guy at the L.A Noire dev said they opted to change publisher (basing this on the recent interview). So in return for changing publisher plus the incured costs for that initial time as the publisher...sony requested exclusive content or something like that. Portal...well who knows. I really have no clue here. but again i dont think Sony paid for it. There was a speific point in time when gabe newell had a change in attitude towards the ps3, round about the time wen the ps3 started seeing really good sales. So probably to create a better reputation amongst ps3 gamers, he appeared at e3 and gave exclusive content maybe just to avoid portal boycott sales from crazy ps3 fanboys. Again nothing seems obvious here to me....sony might have actually paid for that change in heart from Gabe ;). Im going with my first idea cos im a Sony fan :P Dead space free extraction game. Hmmm seems obvious to me, kinda fits in with the move perfectly and plus they are selling it on psn. EA and Son do have a close relationship in general (most of the time). I think these cases are different from the exclusive assassins creed add campaigns...which i think Sony pays actual money for or something resulting in reduced costs for ubisoft ;) |
Gabe's opinion with the PS3 hasn't really changes so much as his frustration with the 360 increased due to Microsoft's ridiculious overcontrolling of live preventing TF2 updates.
