I actually like it a lot in most games it's in. Worked awesome in Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction imo; was perfect in Heavy Rain; Flower of course; and I actually even like it's implentation in Killzone 2/3. The only game I can think of that I didn't like it in is Uncharted: DF haha. Well at least with the grenades.
Oh, and like some other people said...I think as long as you keep running and don't stop (and don't run face first into one), the creatures shouldn't be able to catch you. I think I remember I thought the whole part was kind of freaky/scary/intense until I realized the creatures couldn't catch me if I kept moving.
