Well if you look at recent Nintendo consoles: 3DS - outdated hardware - 3D screen as mind catching gimmick Wii - outdated hardware - motion controls gimmick NDS - outdated hardware - second screen Gamecube - powerfull up to date hardware - everything classic.
So if Nintendo can find something that would work as mind catching gimmick for Cafe I fully expect them to go with outdated hardware. |
Uh yah you see Nintendo's handhelds have always used out dated hardware. Name one handheld made by Nintendo that used state of the art hardware?
NES - Up to date hardware
SNES- Up to date powerful hardware
N64- A graphical super power more powerful then anything the market had ever seen
GameCube - Powerful up to date hardware
Wii - Out of date graphically but next gen controller capabilities
The Wii was an oddity Nintendo has always produced powerful hardware in the past. I would be very suprised if Nintendo didn't release up to date hardware. Mainly because Nintendo knows they will have the market for a year or two before the competition enters the fray. Nintendo also knows a big hurdle for third party support was the inability to port titles.
Nintendo will pull a DreamCast launching an up to date or maybe even new unseen technology. Expecting Sony and Microsoft to launch similiar powered consoles two years in the future. Especially if rumours are correct and Nintendo is targetting their core demographic again.
Also the rumour about the screens on each controller and how that will use power. Umm guys seriously nobody had a single clue as to what the Wiimote looked like until Nintendo unvieled it. I remember at TGS 2005 everyone freaking out when they saw the controller and not knowing what it did or how it worked. No rumours had lead to any knowledge of the controller.
So based on knowing nothing all we can do is speculate. I don't believe a single rumour right now. Nintendo is known for being the most tight lipped company and I doubt they would allow their next controller to be leaked this far in advance of E3!
